Peter Rodgers

Co-Founder & CTO

Peter (Pete) Rodgers is the Co-Founder and Director of Lotsearch, an Australian environmental risk and spatial intelligence company supporting professionals to make better-informed decisions about land and property when conducting environmental due diligence.

Pete co-founded Lotsearch in 2014 with Howard Waldron after recognising the growing need for clear, reliable access to historical land-use and environmental data. With a deep technical background in geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial data, Pete saw firsthand how fragmented and difficult it was for professionals to piece together meaningful environmental insight. Lotsearch was built to solve that problem, bringing structure, scale and clarity to many complex datasets.

With more than 25 years’ experience in GIS, spatial data and database systems, Pete leads the technical and product direction of Lotsearch. He is responsible for the development, optimisation and integrity of the company’s proprietary products and systems, ensuring clients can rely on accurate, efficient and defensible information.

Before founding Lotsearch, Pete held senior technical roles across engineering and mining consultancies in Australia, managing complex spatial databases and GIS functions. Prior to relocating to Australia, he spent eight years with Landmark Information in the UK, the country’s leading environmental data company, where he worked across multiple technical roles contributing to the development of best-in-class environmental risk products.

Getting under the hood with Pete

At Lotsearch, we believe that trust, shared values and genuine care for people and the environment sit at the heart of strong, long-term professional relationships.

That belief starts with our founders. Pete is a true technologist, grounded, thoughtful and quietly driven by purpose. While much of his work happens behind the scenes, the impact of his contribution is felt in every Lotsearch report delivered.

Before you dive into the data, here’s a closer look at Pete Rodgers and the person behind the platform, because understanding the ground you’re standing on applies just as much to people as it does to land.

Outside the office, what does life look like for Pete?

Outside of work, Pete enjoys staying active and spending time with his partner. He’s recently taken up tennis, which has become a fun way to spend evenings or weekends, and he also enjoys bouldering and mountain biking whenever time allows.

Travel is another passion, particularly exploring new places and reconnecting with family in the UK and Malaysia. These moments away from the screen provide balance and perspective and help recharge both physically and mentally.

What does Pete enjoy most about working at Lotsearch?

For Pete, one of the most rewarding aspects of working at Lotsearch is building products that genuinely help clients identify potential issues and solve real-world problems. There’s deep satisfaction in knowing the systems and data he oversees are making environmental due diligence clearer, faster and more reliable.

He also values working alongside a highly collaborative and capable team. Building technology is important but building it with the right people is what makes the work meaningful.

What achievements stand out most over the Lotsearch journey?

Looking back, Pete is proud of the many milestones Lotsearch has achieved, but what stands out most is the team that has been built along the way.

Creating a supportive, values-aligned and collaborative environment, where talented people can do meaningful work, is an achievement he holds in particularly high regard. The culture behind the product is something he sees as fundamental to Lotsearch’s ongoing success.

Biggest learning from the industry so far?

Pete believes the environmental and property industries are ultimately about people — skilled, passionate individuals committed to improving outcomes and protecting the environment.

One of his biggest learnings has been the importance of values and cultural alignment when building teams. Being surrounded by people who genuinely care about the work they do, and the impact it has, has been both motivating and inspiring throughout his career.
